Great Idea For a Boys Party!

Ok, I love this. It can be difficult coming up with new party ideas at times- especially for little boys- (though boys & girls alike will love this one!)

Awesome Army Boot Camp Birthday Party

Atten-HUT! Forward & march on up to this awesome Army Boot Camp Birthday Party by Teresa & Ben of Hugs and Punches. Per Cadet Anton’s request, they created “Kidruck Boot Camp,” where there was an amazing mini {kid-friendly} training course! With a little face paint, some camo-cake, and a great drill sergeant, this party successfully formed the CUTEST army ever!

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS

– Green frosted cake topped with a mini bunting, fighter jet & dog tags + DIY camouflage cake inside!
– Dog tag favors for each little cadet and fun camouflage “war” paint!
– Army men cupcake toppers on camouflage cupcakes
– Obstacle course activity with army crawls, hurdles & spare tires!

Six year old Anton wants to be in the Army when he grows up so he requested a Bootcamp Birthday Party. Challenge accepted.

After getting geared up and ready, the birthday boy’s dad sat the kids down for a few minutes to talk to them about what it means to be a soldier and how men & women in the military give their lives to protect us. Per Anton’s request, he also explained a little about a group called Goruck that his daddy is very involved in. Complete with a rucksack full of bricks, these 12-17 hour Goruck Challenges are a slice of what the Special Forces go through in training. Through these challenges, this party was born {calling it Kidruck}.
Though the kids initially thought of it as a race, they began to understand that they needed to work together as a team on several of the events. They also sweated it out running tires, hurdles, {fake} barbed wire army crawl, and several climbing & balancing challenges.
After several water breaks, it was time for cake and snacks. There were lots of “oohs & ahhs” as the boys and girls unwrapped their cupcakes and saw that even those were camouflage inside.

Everything from the cake and snacks, to the construction of the events themselves were fully made by Ben & Teresa, the birthday boy’s mom and dad.

Kids Flower Decorating Party

This is just a wonderful idea!

Photographer (and mommy of the birthday girl) Renee Bell teamed up with Sapphire Designs and arranged a super clever & creative birthday celebration for Liana. Instead of a traditional dessert buffet, this stunning Kids Floral Decorating Party featured a fresh flower buffet where the girls got to pick out flowers for their very own floral creations. Something tells me “kids” of all ages are going to love this idea! ;)
PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

– Dessert table with doily details and sweet snacks labeled with mini chalkboard signs!
– Fabric pendant bunting + various pink tissue poms, lanterns & paper rosettes
– Burlap wrapped bottle centerpieces and white box “pots” for each girl to decorate
– Flower Power Juice served in glass bottles with pink stripe straws
– Elegant pink & beige ruffled birthday cake with a fresh flower topper

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Renee…

The dilemma a few months ago – how to top last year’s 7th Birthday Circus Party. Not that we need a fancy party every year, but I do love to plan, decorate and entertain, and I have so many wonderful friends and suppliers willing to help out so one big party per year is enough to keep me happy :)! Trying to think of a party idea that was interactive, but still suitable for 8 year old’s was a challenge. Add to that trying to keep it with very little focus on food as possible, (since we eat very little processed food in our house, and most 8 year old’s come to a party and expect to eat sugar, lollies and chips and lots of them!!) Then it needed to have something that would keep the children entertained for at least an hour – hour and a half. Also being a late July birthday – we cant plan for outdoors! Liana loves crafts – drawing, arranging things and collecting treasures is absolute heaven in her eyes, so my fabulous friend’s Rach, Sarah and I put on our thinking caps and came up with the idea for a Florist Party.
Flowers, and lots of them!!! Think a flower buffet, instead of a lolly buffet. All different shapes, sizes and colors, in vases and ready for choosing. Gorgeous, girly and lots of pink!! We had cute little white boxes set up, one for each girl with a little greenery, florist foam inside ready to go, and a pile of permanent markers so they could spend some time drawing and decorating their box to begin with. (That killed at least 20 minutes time!!!) Then time to line up at the ‘flower buffet’ and choose a few flowers at a time, placing carefully in their arrangement and then coming back for more. The girls were so excited, and so engrossed in every last detail of their creation. Some pre-wired ribbons to add the final touches, a requisite photo of each girl and their creation and the boxes were set aside for them to take home at the end of the party… who needs party bags full of lollies and rubbish to take home, when you can have gorgeous fresh flowers on your bedside table instead??
Flowers by Rach and Bec at Sapphire Designs, and huge thanks to both of them for helping decorate, and staying for the party to assist!!! Rach will be offering party packages similar to this as part of a new business launch next month, so please get in touch with her for more information!

So so in love with this cake by Vanessa and Jon at Sugar Rush… I gave them a very loose brief in terms of color and the overall style of the party and this is what they came up with, absolute perfection!!  And yes – it tasted amazing!! It always breaks my heart when I have to cut one of the fabulous creations from Sugar Rush. Top tier was chocolate and bottom was coconut… perfect combo!
The party was my (and Liana’s) idea of heaven. Loads of details, and pretty pretty things… most of the hanging decorations are still up – we love them so much that we can’t bear to take them down!!!
